Pack 40 Committee Meeting Minutes - Wednesday January 4, 2012 at Scout Hall
Popcorn Sales update - $368 is still owed (3 person owe). We have still have some popcorn in the inventory to sell this winter. Thank you to Brian Murphy for an outstanding job this year.
January 22 - Pinewood Derby Workshop - at Worden-Martin Buick garage in Champaign 11am-4pm. Take you car kit and come home with a completed pinewood derby car! Go early this is a busy day.
January 27 - Pack meeting will be held at the Parkland Planetarium. Be at the planetarium by 6:30pm in the lobby. Show starts at 7pm. We will have a short pack meeting there to hand out awards and then get to see a great movie in the Planetarium. Cost is $3 per person. Directions are here http://www2.parkland.edu/planetarium/
February 4 - Pancake breakfast with St. Joseph Masonic Lodge at the St. Joseph Methodist Church. Event is 6am - 10am. Dens are going to assist with serving and bussing tables. Cost is $6 and $4 for kids under 6
The schedule for Dens to work is (please note slightly different than we discussed):
Webelos I & 2 6am-730am
Tigers - 7:30am 9:00am
Wolves/Bears 9:00am - till approximately 10:30am to also help with clean-up
February 17 - Pack 40 Blue and Gold Banquet at Grade School. Ryan Fuqua and Mrs. Campbell are coordinating. This will be a Hawaiin Themed event
Potluck dinner with last name beginning with A-L bringing desert and M-Z brining a covered dish. Drinks, plates/utensils will be provided by the Pack. Troop 40 will be our guests. We will conduct a Cake Auction for a fundraiser for the Pack - bring a cake - the fancier the better.
5pm - setup for those that can come and help
6pm - dinner
6:45 - opening flag ceremony by the Bear Den
6:50 - Announcements
7:00 - Tiger Den ceremony to receive Tiger Badge
7:15- Crossover Ceremony for Webelos 2 Scouts
7:40 - Other awards
7:50 - adult awards
7:59 - Closing
March 16 - Pack Meeting and Pinewood Derby at Grade School
Darin Lahners has extra cars for those that did not receive one.
5:30 check in time - races start at 6pm (approximately)
Prizes will awarded as follows:
Top 4 finishers on overall average
Best Car design - 1 per den
Each Den 1st and 2nd place
Open Class - parents and siblings can also make a car to race
Official rules will follow in a separate email
Top 6 fastest cars and top 6 design winners are eligible to go to the Council race on April 14 at Judeau High School in Champaign

May - Pack graduation picnic TBD.

December Pack Meeting
The Pack Christmas Party/Pack meeting is the Friday December 2 at 6pm in Grade School Cafeteria.
The pack would like each family to bring a non-perishable food item to this meeting. This will be donated to the St. Joseph Food Pantry and will be given to families in need for the holidays.

Below is our plan of action:
- Potluck dinner. Last name beginning with A-L will bring a covered dish. Last Name M-Z a desert. Pack will provide plates, silverware, cups and drinks.
- Tiger Den will do the opening flag ceremony
- Awards will be given out
- Activity - each scout will be asked to make 2-3 Christmas cards for the Danville VA and the Champaign County Nursing Home Pack will provide paper. If you have any crayons, markers, etc please bring them.
- Activity - Each den is to bring a pinata filled with candy
- Small goody bag for each Scout will be given out
- Dismissal

Popcorn pick up is Saturday November 12 from 10am-12 noon at Scout Hall. All orders need to be picked up at that time.

Smilin Pumpkin this Sunday.
Smilin’ Pumpkin Climbing
An additional event has been added to the long list of fun opportunities at the Smilin Pumpkin Outdoor Sports Fest . Cub Scouts and their guests will enjoy horizontal climbing on the bouldering wall at the Acorn Outpost, east of the prairie on Sunday, Oct. 30th. Pumpkin
staff will guide climbers across a man-made climbing wall that allows
the Cub Scouts to maneuver sideways in Spiderman fashion. Join the
excitement at Camp Robert Drake near Oakwood from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
